About This Service

Bird Infestation Is Not an Aesthetics Problem. It Is a Building Maintenance Problem

SCFM delivers bird control for commercial buildings, high-rise residential towers, industrial facilities, and hospitality properties using deterrent systems matched to the building type, affected surfaces, and bird species involved. Every programme begins with a site assessment. No system is specified before the infestation is understood.

Assessment Before SpecificationThe right bird control system depends on where birds are roosting, what species are involved, what access points they are using, and what surfaces the deterrent needs to be mounted on. SCFM assesses the building before recommending any system. A spike installation on the wrong surface, or a net that does not cover the full entry perimeter, does not solve the problem. It relocates it.
Multiple Methods, One Coordinated ProgrammePigeon netting, bird spikes, gel repellents, and visual deterrents each work differently and suit different applications. SCFM specifies the appropriate method - or combination - for each affected zone. A single building may require netting on open balconies, spikes on ledges and parapets, and nest clearance from internal voids, all coordinated as one programme with a single mobilisation.
Installation, Nest Clearance, and MaintenanceBird control is not a one-visit solution. SCFM handles the full programme: pre-installation nest clearance and sanitisation, deterrent system installation, and scheduled follow-up visits to inspect system integrity and address any new nesting activity. Both one-time installation projects and ongoing maintenance programmes are available.

From Nest Clearance to Deterrent System. Every Stage Covered.

Assessed. Cleared. Protected.

Every SCFM bird control deployment begins with a site assessment to understand the infestation type, affected surfaces, and access points being used. System specification, installation sequence, and maintenance schedule are confirmed before work begins.

Building exterior assessed for active roosting and nesting zones, entry points, species involved, and surface conditions on affected areas. Assessment report confirms which bird control methods are appropriate for each zone and the sequence in which installation should proceed.

Heavy-duty pigeon netting installed across open facades, balconies, courtyards, and building voids where pigeons are roosting or gaining entry. Net gauge, fixings, and frame system selected based on the span, surface material, and load requirements of the installation area.

Anti-perch spikes installed on ledges, parapets, window sills, signage, AC unit housings, and horizontal surfaces used as roosting points. Spike type selected based on surface material and bird species, with substrate-appropriate fixing confirmed before installation.

Active and abandoned nests cleared from affected zones before deterrent installation. Nesting material, fouling deposits, and contaminated debris removed safely, followed by surface sanitisation to eliminate odour markers that attract returning birds.

Transparent gel repellent applied to ledges, pipework, and structural elements where spikes or netting are not suitable. The gel creates a tactile and visual deterrent that discourages landing without harming birds.

Perimeter mesh installed around rooftop and facade-mounted solar panel arrays to prevent pigeons from nesting beneath panels. Fixing systems are selected to avoid damage to panel frames or roof membranes.

Netting installed across open balcony faces, podium areas, and uncovered courtyards where pigeon access cannot be controlled by surface-mounted deterrents alone. Net colour and tensioning matched to structural and aesthetic requirements.

Deterrent systems installed on parapets, cornices, roof edges, and facade projections used as primary roosting zones. Spikes, wire deterrents, or gel selected based on surface geometry and infestation intensity.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What Building Managers and Facility Heads Ask Before Starting a Bird Control Programme

Questions about deterrent methods, how the right system is selected for your building, whether nest removal is included, installation visibility, combining bird control with other high-rise services, and how often installed systems need to be inspected.

Ask Us Directly
SCFM uses pigeon netting, bird spikes, gel repellents, and perimeter mesh for solar panels - method selected based on the affected surface, the bird species involved, and the building's structural and aesthetic requirements. Most commercial buildings require a combination of methods across different zones rather than a single solution applied uniformly. The appropriate system for each zone is confirmed at the site assessment stage.
The site assessment identifies where birds are roosting and nesting, what surfaces are affected, which access points they are using, and what species are present. This determines which deterrent methods are appropriate for each zone. SCFM does not specify a system before the assessment is complete - the infestation pattern on your building determines the programme, not a standard package.
Nest removal and sanitisation are included as part of the programme and carried out before any deterrent system is installed. Installing a deterrent over an active nest does not resolve the infestation - birds will continue to return until nesting material and odour markers are removed. SCFM handles clearance, sanitisation, and deterrent installation as a single coordinated deployment.
Net colour, tension, and fixing system are selected to be as discreet as possible for the installation area. For most commercial facades and balconies, correctly specified and installed netting is difficult to see from street level. Where building aesthetics are a primary concern, SCFM will discuss the options at the site assessment and recommend the system that best balances effectiveness with visual impact.
Yes. Bird control installation is frequently combined with facade cleaning, exterior painting, safety net inspection, and rope access maintenance on the same mobilisation. When operators are already rigged and on the face of the building, combining additional work scope is the most efficient approach. SCFM coordinates bird control as part of a broader high-rise maintenance programme where required.
Inspection frequency depends on the infestation history, the deterrent system installed, and the building's environment. Most commercial installations benefit from a semi-annual inspection to check system integrity, identify any new nesting activity that has developed around the deterrent perimeter, and carry out any remedial work. SCFM recommends a maintenance interval after the initial installation based on the specific building and infestation pattern.
